Off Topic: Where has Mai Mai been??

So yours truly has recently found the joyous task of searching for employment during a time, if she would believe it, unemployment is on the rise. However, as a true Marketer, she let her fingers do the walking and on they went to Seek.com .. there are a few excellent opportunities out there, let's hope that she qualifies for an interview.

Make Up Review: Natio Loose Powder in 'Translucent' / Face of Australia Loose Powder in 'Outback Translucent'

As I have mentioned previously, I have been on the search for a 'clear' loose powder that won't add colour to my face when applied.  Mainly, to set the concealer I apply under my eyes so I don't find it melting off my face during the day!

So what am I looking for?  First off, I don't want the powder to look or feel cakey, emphasise fine lines, break my skin out or appear dry-like on my skin.  Oh and one more thing..PLEASE for the love of god, do not contain Bismuth Oxychloride.

Translucent Loose Powder

Translucent Loose Powder (TLP) is is a clear, colourless powder that does not alter the colour or tone of your skin when applied. It is designed to be very light on your skin, and is preferred by most makeup artists to give a finished look. It also has much more staying power than pressed powders, to give a flawless, smooth result. It helps to blend blush and foundations together for a more natural look (so that you can't tell where one colour starts or stops).

Chaigyaru Giveaway!

Just as I was about to go to bed, Chaigyaru posts this awesome giveaway sponsored by Kiwiberry!

Honestly, the lenses look amazing.. I have always wanted green.. but I'm considering the pink now! LOL

Quick Update

I have been neglecting my blog lately due to a course I signed up for.. But fear not, I have been actively sourcing out different products to review!

My poor skin is recovering from a hormonal breakout, but I think I have just found a HG cleanser that is a blessing to my skin! My lovely aunt actually introduced me to it :) and I am actually quite impressed. I will continue to experiment and see how my skin looks at the end of the month.

Things that will be reviewed this month are:

- Face of Australia Translucent Powder
- Natio Translucent Powder
- Avène Cleanance™ Soapless Gel Cleanser

I'm just in the process of looking into ingredients and their uses in makeup..so thanks for your patience guys! Yes, I am aware I only have 10 followers, but I am deeply grateful to each and every one of you :)

I finish my course in a few days and apparently we get a little graduation ceremony! Too cute!

Until the next review,

Mai

Renewed Energy/Job Applications

Good Morning my lovelies!

I hope you all had a wonderful sleep! Silly me I forgot to turn off my alarm..so yours truly was woken up at a crazy hour! (Epic fail, I know).

Just a quick update, on a whim I decided to search on Seek for job titles or descriptions containing the word "Google" since I have had experience working on Google Adwords (you know those annoying ads you see on the right hand side on the page when you do a search? Yeah, the annoying person who wrote a few of them is me).

Job Searching

I graduated from Uni over a year ago and it is tough finding a job. Yay on me for getting out of school during a Recession! (No, not really).

I sometimes joke with my parents that it's my fault for not failing subjects at Uni so I would have stayed back an extra semester (or two). Look who's laughing now..(some uni friends are, LOL).

So what can a Uni Graduate, with only 3 months experience in Marketing do to make her more attractive to an employer? Right now, should I be concentrating on only getting my foot in the door of ANY company? And then getting the experience in an office environment and see what opportunities may arise from the job?

Cleanser Experiment: Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser

Cost: $22 (RRP)
Weight: 1 Litre

I have been looking around for a cleanser for awhile now. A lot of reviewers talk about Cetaphil’s Gentle Skin Cleanser (CGSC) and sing it many praises. I was lucky enough to purchase this bottle slightly cheaper than usual at $18.99. Not much of a saving, but still a saving! It also came with 2 travel sized gifts – a 30ml cleanser sample and a Day Moisturizer.

Eye Shadow Review : Shu Uemura Pressed Shadow

***Click on the image for a larger view***

Cost:  RM60/$22AUD (at time of purchase in Malaysia) / Aust. $36
Weight:  21g/0.07oz
The Background Story
I first heard of Shu Uemura (SU) while watching makeup tutorial videos on Youtube.  A majority of the beauty gurus were reviewing and comparing the SU eyelash curlers and that sparked an interest for me. Then a few months later a friend told me that SU was readily available at the David Jones beauty section. I was stoked and went along to see her splurge on her products. I wasn’t yet sold on his eye shadows as I wanted to try them out and see swatches. And true to my nature, I did a little research on SU both as a person and a brand. He was big on healthy skin and non-harming products for his customers' skin. This became the underlying aspect of his cosmetics. He also believed in enhancing a subject's natural beauty, not artificially creating it using cosmetic products. I say, kudos to Mr Uemura!

Foundation Review : Body Shop Nature’s Minerals

-->
The Facts
Cost: $39.95
Weight: 5g
Packaging: Screw cap lid in a plastic casing. There is a sifter inside for the fine powder to pass through. It's ok, but powder does tend to fall out and fly everywhere.

The Body Shop Nature’s Minerals foundation powder is very fine and soft, applies like a dream to the face and is very buildable. The coverage is light to medium depending on how much you want to apply. I am not fond of foundations that look cakey and heavy so this product was a god-send. When applied, it illuminates the skin very nicely and gives you a bright, glowing face.

Review: Mineral Makeup

Yes, I do realise that this post is slightly behind in the times, but what harm can another opinion do? MM is a great option to choose when you are first starting out as it feels and looks very natural and for people with sensitive skin.
